A DONNERHALL SON IN NORTH AMERICA
Simply put, Donner Bube has one of the strongest pedigrees to ever come to Canada. This is explored in articles written by J.W Equine and are available here and here.
Although his lineage is laden with dressage bloodlines, it is far from devoid of jumping blood - his sire line is that of Paul Schockemohle's Olympic silver medalist and $1.5 million winning jumper, Deister.
Donnerhall, now immortalized in bronze, has had a dominant influence in the dressage arena worldwide and Pik Bube I, who has 15 approved sons and nearly 200 Main Studbook mares, is a strong influence for dressage and jumping abilities. Grundstein I is likely best known in Canada as the sire of the CET dressage mount, Gilbona, but he also sired internationally ranked jumpers in the Oldenburg, Hanoverian and Westphalian registries and got 13 approved sons in only 7 years at stud in Germany. Donner Bube's third dam, Alinda is also the dam of Purioso, a stallion who has numerous KWPN offspring in the world rankings for dressage and jumping. In actual fact, horses of international caliber, in all three Olympic disciplines have been generated by the very bloodlines that Donner Bube exhibits. Not only do these names stand alone - they are consistently found combined in the ancestry of top horses.
Winner of his stallion test, Donner Bube has a powerhouse pedigree resulting from breeding the best to the best, generation after generation. He provided a unique opportunity for breeders whether they are interested in producing dressage horses or show jumpers. Although Donner Bube has been shown successfully as a jumper, he has the talent to be competitive in the upper levels of dressage- just as his lineage indicates. In fact, the depth of dressage and jumping blood he provides is hard to duplicate. So solid is his pedigree, that it has even been used as an example in an article entitled, "Strength of Pedigree" by JW Equine. He can also be seen here in the article "Functional Conformation" written by JW Equine.
He typifies the modern Warmblood, possessing 15.6% Thoroughbred blood, a tractable mind, and ancestors who have exerted their influence in the Hanoverian, KWPN, NAPWN, Oldenburg, Rheinlander, Selle Francais, Swedish Warmblood, Swiss Warmblood and westphalen registries.
Since his importation, he has been extremely well received, and has been producing successful foals since 2001.
